About Me
|
Writing an "about page" is always a difficult task, so here goes... My primary source of income is from my life long career with BT. It is a great company to work with and has never let me down with opportunities to develop and change my career/role when I need to. My current role is looking at new value added services that will encourage our customers to get the most out of broadband internet to enhance their digital life. This is a key part of BT's vision - "To be dedicated to helping customers thrive in a changing world." I also enjoy helping out others and am pleased to be working with Global Ethics with their online media strategy, a great organisation that has helped change over one million lives to give clean drinking water and better health. Ethical living is in my blood. |

I love to travel and try not to visit the same country twice. I am sure my interests came from living in Germany and Cyprus, plus an active time within the Venture Scouts. More recently I have travelled to South America, North Africa and the Far East. I tend to enjoy visiting non-English speaking countries where I can learn about people, culture and food. Asia is my favourite continent. I have been travelling on the Trans-Siberia railway since 1997 and run a successful website about my journeys.
"The World is a book, and only those who do not travel read only one page."
Photography is another passion of mine, especially when travelling. In 2005 I travelled on an 18-day photography assignment for a tour operator across Siberia and spending much of the time in Mongolia and on to China. I belong to a local photography club where I get the chance to see photographs from some talented local people, plus gain experience in the studio.
I have a number of years experience in personal development and leadership through my career with BT and held various positions in Junior Chamber International. I also manage the online marketing for Whitespace Leaders.
I am particularly interested in personal productivity and getting the most out of life. I am an active follower of the David Allen methodology "Getting Things Done" and use a software tool "My Life Organised" to keep on top of my busy lifestyle. I aspire and achieve a good life/work balance together with healthy eating. Leaving the car at home and using public transport with about 3-4 miles walking each day keeps me in shape and helps looks after my wellbeing.
To relax, I enjoy spending time around London, cooking, visiting local food markets, real ale, taking 'street' photos and enjoying time with family and friends. I also enjoy a digital lifestyle and spend a little too much time editing web pages.
