The sounds, smell and taste of Malaysia street food came to Trafalgar Square last night. Malaysia Kitchen, which represents the 50 or more Malaysian restaurants in the UK organised the event. Around 30 food stalls served food to thousands of visitors. Dancers and singers entertained the audience. Trafalgar Square is a great venue to experience these cultural events.
We normally meet up at The Fox & Hounds, Croxley then get a lift to the The Royal Oak, explore Chipperfield and Sarratt. We finish off at The Cock Inn for a curry. Normally around 20-30 people join in every year, some from as far away as Belgium.
After three years of work by Transport For London, a very old railway line reopens in London. Celebrations took place, including free travel on the day, balloons at the stations and a mass of travel fans admiring the new style carriages.
In 1662 the writer Samuel Pepys was so impressed about a puppet show he saw that he decided to write about. And so the Punch and Judy show was brought to the UK. This year it is Mr. Punch's 348th birthday so I took a stroll to Covent Garden to find out what was so facinating that has driven fanatics to celebrate this event for the last 35 years.
